JOURNAL
PRESIDENT’S COLUMN
Welcome to the new Assessors Journal!
Its been a while since we had an of昀椀cial publication in place, we have been working hard to reinstate a worthy successor
to deliver news, insight and technical information to you.
It’s been a tough six months for the institute, as we have had to restart a lot of processes from the ground up to ensure
we move with the times, and remain relevant to the industry.
The institute have instigated new infrastructure, digital communications, renewed accounting services and ensured we
remain compliant and committed to our membership.
Going forward there are a number of enhancements we are looking to bring to the institute to bene昀椀t you the member
and equip you better for the ever changing market place.
We have been focusing also on the revised examination for the appropriately quali昀椀ed person certi昀椀cation for the
ABI code of practice for the categorisation of motor vehicle salvage, and on following a soft roll out of examination
and recerti昀椀cation, we are now able to move forward and offer wider certi昀椀cation to the members who have lapsed in
certi昀椀cation.
Over the last few years we have invested in digital examination, invigilation and marking, to make our education more
accessible and agile, and over time we plan to expand this area across the UK, Ireland and much further a昀椀eld.
It has been heartening to see the regions come out of hibernation following Covid,
with some excellent events being well attended.
I want to thank the regions personally, for all of their efforts, and professionalism in the
delivery of key information to our members – well done!
I also want to reach out to potential new regions, or restarting regions where there
are gaps we can assist to 昀椀ll for our members, and if there is anyone interested,
please contact me directly and I am more that happy to assist you.
As we re-invent ourselves, and move with the times, we are looking for new council
members to stand for National council as Directors and Trustees for the institute to
assist us in our ambitious journey onwards.
We will be issuing more information as we move towards our AGM which is being
scheduled for September.
One 昀椀nal note, if we don’t have your correct email addresses, we cannot share all the
great news with you, so do ensure you advise admin@theiaea.org if you are not
seeing any releases.
