ASSESSOR SUMMER 2025 FULL MAGAZINE v2 - Flipbook - Page 17
Q: WHAT ARE THE KEY ISSUES
FACING MOTOR ENGINEERS
IN 2025?
So, I asked around for this question
because my team are on the ground –
doing the do. Having manufacturers’
information for new vehicles is still
lacking, when dealing with damaged
vehicles it is paramount to know details
to ensure the correct repair method is
being used.
Technical information can be dif昀椀cult
to obtain which pushes a customer
into a dealer repair scenario. Food for
thought will be the introduction of the
hydrogen vehicle, a “watch this space”
situation.
Q: WHAT INFLUENCED YOUR
DECISION TO JOIN THE
IAEA COUNCIL?
I have been on – and off-Council for
many years in the past: when Phil
Archer was President, Adam Murray
and sat alongside Alan Doughty, Les
Minton and many other esteemed
gentlemen. So, when the opportunity
arose to work alongside David Punter,
Rick Stone, Matthew Taylor and Alan
Watling again, seeing the direction
the IAEA was going – I felt I could
contribute to its end goal.
No one was more surprised than me
when I received con昀椀rmation that I had
indeed been elected. That’s something
else that I believe sets the IAEA in high
regard: you are voted into Council and
not just selected. Others have faith
in you, too, to help make the right
decisions.
My previous posts for Council have
been, Education, and General Council,
I’ve been the Secretary and then
President, for the Bristol region, too,
for many years.
Q: WHAT VALUE CAN THE IAEA
BRING TO ITS MEMBERS?
It offers prestige, support, training,
advice and guidance. Being a Member
should make you feel proud to be
part of an outstanding organisation, it
reinforces your accountability, ethics
and morals.
The Institute is there for all Members
to utilise, each Engineer’s needs will be
different – if you are unable to 昀椀nd your
answer, you can just ask.
I am an advocate for the IAEA and
always have been, always will, some
may say I am bias, I have no reason not
to be. As a result, I recommend the
IAEA to all Engineers I encounter.

Q: FINALLY, OUTSIDE WORK
WHAT DO I ENJOY?
You mean apart from being the IAEA
cheerleader! I love (believe it or not)
classic cars. I love the smell inside and
out. I love the smiles you bring to many
people’s faces and can’t get enough of
just driving them.
I also enjoy helping my husband
restore our house. I’m pretty run of
the mill really: the gym, occasionally
reading.
Currently, I’m enjoying the prospect
of early retirement – will it come to
fruition – think that’s the million-dollar
question.
Thanks for reaching out!
