IAEA Council Member, Victoria Whittle, Engineer Team Leader at sopp+sopp, is an
experienced motor insurance industry specialist, holding roles at Allianz and RBS.
Victoria spoke to The Assessors Journal about her career to date, her involvement
with the IAEA (including as the 昀椀rst female Chairperson, for the Bristol Region),
and her love for classic cars!
Q: WHAT ARE SOME OF
THE MAJOR CHANGES
YOU HAVE SEEN IN THE
INDUSTRY AND HOW
HAVE YOU AND YOUR
TEAM ADAPTED TO THOSE
CHANGES?
If I went into all the changes over the
years, it might not be the best thing
to do as I could give away my age.
The obvious ones are the transition to
electric vehicles and, most recently, the
ABI Code of Practice.
To adapt to any change, it is all
about knowledge and investigation /
research. Having the common sense to
be able to ask if you are not sure and
not to make any uninformed decisions.
My team and I have a great working
relationship whereby we discuss
anything that requires con昀椀rmation
or a second opinion or expertise in
that area, it can be anything. Knowing
your own limitations, we may think we
are the font of all knowledge, but in
reality…
