WELCOME TO THE
IAEA’S NEW
PRESIDENT ELECT!
Mark Wells M.Inst.A.E.A. has been elected to role of President Elect for 2025/2027 term.
Here, The Assessors Journal, gets the lowdown on the newly elected President Elect,
hot off the heels of the AGM in Coventry.
ark started his career in
the body repair industry
in the late 1980’s,
training as a panel
beater and estimator
for Trimoco Luton. From here his
career progressed into commercial and
specialist vehicles, working for Dawson
Rentals as a Fleet Quality Engineer
and then for Montracon as After Sales
Manager. He then moved on to a
quality and engineering role at O and
H Facilities (Ambulance Conversions)
and a spell back in 昀氀eet engineering at
TLS TIP. An opportunity took him into
Insurance, working for Direct Line and
at AIG UK.

Throughout his career, Mark has gained
a wide experience of all types of
vehicles along with a wide knowledge
of ISO quality standards, manufacturing
and problem solving. More recently,
Mark has moved into the marine cargo
sector, where his specialist skills have
been invaluable.
During his time at the IAEA, Mark has
chaired the Yorkshire region and has
been Education Of昀椀cer since 2019.
Here his passion to assist in upskilling
the next generation has shone through.

Outside of work, Mark has a passion for
classic vehicles, owning a collection of
vehicles with his partner ranging from
1938 to 2001. He is very engaged in
the classic car movement, appearing
in panel discussions at the NEC Classic
Car and Restoration Shows. He’s
very hands on and has marshalled at
several events including the London to
Brighton Veteran Car Run and VSCC
events. He is also passionate about
bringing more diversity to the industry
being active amongst Insurance
Industry networks.
EXECUTIVE AND COUNCIL
MEMBERS
Having passed his IAEA examinations
in 1993 he feels his IAEA quali昀椀cation
has given him a 昀椀rm foundation for his
career progression. Commenting why
he is an active member “the IAEA is
imperative to the future of our industry.
With the advent of AI, we must strive
to be at the forefront of technology,
with a 昀椀rm foundation of the basic
principles of vehicle engineering. It
is here where the Quali昀椀ed Engineer
adds value not only in the claims
process, but the industry as a whole as
being the go-to experts”.

The Institute is governed by a Council
of around ten Members elected by
their peers and the Executive of the
Institute.
The Executive comprising the
President, the President-Elect and the
Immediate Past President oversees the
activities of the Institute.
The Company Secretary and the
Finance Of昀椀cer provide necessary
support to the Executive and Council.

Council Members meet four times
a year. The Council focusses on the
essential activities of the Institute,
provides guidance and is responsible
for progressing all matters of
administration and development.
