AN UPDATE FROM THE SINGAPORE CENTRE OF INSTITUTE
OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEER ASSESSORS (SCIAEA).

from colleagues in
Singapore, provided
by Tobiah Sia,
Regional Secretary Institute of
Automotive Engineer Assessors
(IAEA-UK) – Singapore Region
(SCIAEA).

“On behalf of the Singapore Centre
of Institute of Automotive Engineer
Assessors (SCIAEA), I am pleased
to share a brief report on our 2025
membership and key activities,” writes
Tobiah:
1. Membership Drive
As of 2025, the Singapore Region has
a total of 22 IAEA members.
2. Activities Conducted
In collaboration with LKK Auto
Consultants Pte Ltd, a well-established
local auto consulting 昀椀rm, SCIAEA has
been part of the contributions for the
following seminars:
• Understanding of Commercial
Vehicles & Motorcycles for the
Purpose of Claims Handling – two
sessions in February 2025.
• Strategies for Managing Claim
Costs: Insights from a Motor
Surveyor – three sessions in June
and July 2025.
Each seminar, held over a duration
of three hours, was well attended by
representatives from various insurance
companies. These sessions provided
valuable opportunities for professional
development and encouraged
knowledge sharing effectively.
We were also invited to meet with
the Ministry of Manpower, Singapore
(MOM), speci昀椀cally their Occupational
Safety and Health Division on 9
July 2025 to discuss certi昀椀cation
requirements for local EV workshops.
SCIAEA was pleased to share our
technical expertise on safe handling
of high-voltage vehicle repair and
maintenance.

“Thank you and wishing all at IAEA a
successful 2026 ahead,” said Tobiah.
We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our former Vice Chairman of
SCIAEA, Mr Toh Choon Hin, who passed away on 06 September 2025. With
over 40 years of experience as an automotive assessor, he provided many
valuable inputs on the training and development of many automotive assessors,
who will undoubtedly fondly remember him as a very approachable mentor.
