Their commitment helps us showcase
the dynamic opportunities in the
automotive sector and inspire local
children to dream big!”
Amongst the 'Engineer Inspirers' who spoke to the
youngsters about their models was Mike Massey,
Brand Development Manager, Morelli Group.
It was the second time that Morelli
had hosted the Primary Engineer
celebration and Ruth Moring-Beale,
Director of Strategy and Growth, was
delighted to involve 昀椀ve of its key
partners in contributing to what was
another successful event.
“Our mission is to ignite curiosity
and creativity in children by bringing
engineering into the classroom,” said
Andrew Norris, Primary Engineer’s
Head of Partnerships for Central and
East England.
“We believe engineering is the
perfect lens through which to explore
academic learning, practical skills,
inclusivity and innovation. By engaging
children at the primary school level,
we aim to inspire the next generation
to see engineering – and in this case
automotive engineering – as a thrilling
and accessible career path.
He added: “As a not-for-pro昀椀t
organisation, our work is made
possible by companies who share our
passion for engineering. We are deeply
grateful to Morelli and their partners
for supporting the Primary Engineer
Vehicle Programme in Coventry.
“Last year was a huge success and left
us with such a warm feeling, seeing
how much the children got out of the
day, that we wanted to do it again,”
said Ruth. “We had even more children
this year, all with the same infectious
enthusiasm. It made my day to have
a little girl come up to me on her way
out to say ‘thank-you for giving me the
best day of my life!’ Hopefully she will
be one of the stars of the industry in
the future.”

“The Primary Engineer Vehicle
Programme connects pupils with
local companies, showing them that
world-class engineering is happening
right on their doorstep. This early
engagement helps children envision
themselves as future engineers,
technicians and innovators.”
TEACHER – Joanna Ashmore, Allesley Hall Primary School
The children felt a great sense of achievement from their participation and they were proud to show off
their cars at a parents afternoon we held in school. They loved the tools and enjoyed the opportunity to be
creative but also respond like an engineer when things didn’t go to plan – for example the group who got
their chassis working only to discover that one of the wheels wasn’t touching the 昀氀oor and then had to come
up with an idea to weigh it down.
PUPIL – Niyam, All Saints Primary School
We enjoyed 昀椀nding out about how things work. Our car worked but went on a bit of a curve in the
straight line test and we had to adjust the washers on the wheels to try and get it to go uphill. I want to be a
goalkeeper for Chelsea when I grow up but I could do a little bit of engineering too.
ENGINEER INSPIRER – Ellie Soden, Business Manager, NBRA
The event was really inspiring and I was absolutely amazed by the interest shown and impressed by
the communication skills of the youngsters taking part. It was great to talk to them about the environment,
sustainability and the different areas of the automotive industry but also for them to think about what they
will do when they get older and how exciting a career in accident repair could be.
