Here, Tobiah Sia, the Singapore Region (SCIAEA)
Regional Secretary, shares a detailed report on the
activities and membership drive for the Year 2024.
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Below are the details of the training:
There are a total of 22 IAEA
members in the Singapore Region.
Activities by the SCIAEA team
members included 昀椀ve dates in
September, October and November
for an Advanced Certi昀椀cate in
Automotive Survey which saw, in
total, 56 participants from insurers,
claims and engineering 昀椀rms.
Before I delve into the details of our
activities, I would like to inform you
that SCIAEA has actively participated
in the Regulation and Accreditation
of Motor Surveyors Workgroup
meetings, organised by the General
Insurance Association of Singapore
(GIA). Our involvement began with
the 昀椀rst meeting on 11 May 2023
and has continued through to 28
February 2024, during which GIA
circulated a recommendation paper
to its members. As part of this
initiative, SCIAEA has focused on
advancing training and education
for motor surveyors in support of the
accreditation process.
In alignment with this effort, SCIAEA
organised a one-day Advanced
Certi昀椀cate in Automotive Survey
training program, speci昀椀cally designed
for surveyors with 10 or more years of
experience.

Additionally, we had a meeting with
of昀椀cers from the Land Transport
Authority (LTA) on Tuesday 3 December
2024 to discuss the practices of local
workshops in handling EV repairs.
SCIAEA was pleased to share our
expertise with the LTA of昀椀cers to assist
in providing a more comprehensive
assessment of the local workshops in
Singapore.
