Coast to host a FIEA General Assembly
in 2026. It would be an opportunity to
federate African countries and lay the
foundations of an “African FIEA”.
The idea is to create a common
platform based on a minimum
requirement of skills to be of昀椀cially
recognised as an expert and to seek
partnerships for the establishment of
African expert diplomas. This project
involves the 14 member countries and
150 experts.
Eddy and Martine, FIEA Treasurer and
Permanent Secretary, are going to
Senegal in February 2025 and hope to
meet with key authorities there.
If a GA is to be held in the Ivory Coast,
the President requests that delegates
advise if it posed dif昀椀culties for them to
attend. The suggestion was favourable
in principle, but mixed due to the long
distances plus the limited availability
and cost of 昀氀ights. Souleymane has
already contacted some institutions
that could provide support.
An exchange then took place on the
references used in the Ivory Coast for
the assessment of damaged vehicles
and the evaluation of costs after a
disaster, such as the recent 昀氀ooding
in Valencia. This would also include
the structure and organisation of the
insurance sector.
6. European recognition
of the profession – CEPLIS
(European Council of the
Liberal Professions)
See: https://ceplis.org
Dialogue is continuing with CEPLIS, in
the hope of including the recognition
of automotive experts for a future
accreditation. We are being asked
to rede昀椀ne our identity and our
members’ contribution to society. The
FIEA intends to pursue this welcome
opportunity.
In Greece, this exercise has already
been carried out, and the Greek
delegation is ready to share its
experience with us.
Baptiste Dardenne, the CEPLIS contact,
has now been transferred but there is
now a new point of contact in Professor
Theodoros Koutroubas, Director
General of CEPLIS.
The FIEA General Assembly
took place on Saturday 26
October 2024.
Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport,
Christos Staikouras, left, with Jacques
Trassoudaine, FIEA President.
Christos Staikouras, Minister of Infrastructure and
Transport con昀椀rmed his support and announced the
launch of work on recognition of the profession.
FIEA TECHNICAL DAY
1. President’s Introduction
The day was 昀椀lled with presentations
from various specialists associated
with the cutting edge of automotive
technology and mobility.
President Jacques Trassoudaine
welcomed all the participants and
thanked them for their attendance.
Four of the presentations are available
to see to visitors to the IAEA website at
https://www.iaea-online.org
The day ended with a statement
from the FIEA President, Jacques
Trassoudaine:
“It was a real pleasure to open this
Technical Day, 25 October 2024 in
Greece. The Minister of Infrastructure
and Transport, Christos Staikouras,
did us the honour of being present,
highlighting the evolution of mobility
and detailing the associated public
policy.
“The President of the Greek
Association of Experts presented on
the services provided by the profession
to respond to the evolution. The
technical day delivered enlightenment
to us on new techniques and
technologies relating to automotive
experts.
“The FIEA, which was founded in 1956,
continues its activities at European and
international level. Decarbonisation
is progressing at a pace. Automotive
power sources are changing, and
consequently the profession of
automotive expert is evolving.
“The FIEA is supporting this by
promoting four priority roles: That of
road safety, ecology, economics, and
consumer protection.”
The FIEA Board Meeting took
place on Thursday 24 October
2024 at the Hotel Emmantina,
Athens.
Christos Staikouras, Minister of Infrastructure and
Transport con昀椀rmed his support and announced the
launch of work on recognition of the profession.
Jacques Trassoudaine once
again thanked and congratulated
Constantinos Televantos (CAAEA
Cyprus) for the excellent organisation
in Athens of this General Assembly
(GA) and Technical Day with its wealth
of technical information.
He restated the main objectives of the
meeting, in particular the presentation
of the 2023 accounts and the
discussion of current projects.
Jacques emphasised the importance of
collaboration and transparency within
the FIEA team.
He mentioned some current points
regarding the organisation, such as
recent successes and the challenges
ahead.
Jacques concluded his introduction by
encouraging all participants to actively
participate in the discussions and ask
questions.
2. General Assembly 2026
project
The meeting began with a presentation
by Souleymane Coulibaly outlining his
proposal of the 2026 General Assembly
project in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).
Souleymane, of the Chambre Ivorian
des Experts en Automobile et Materials
Industrial (CIEAMI), advised that the
Ivory Coast is a candidate to host the
2026 General Assembly for several
reasons. The FIEA President, Jacques,
insisted on the importance for the
country to have a project to implement.
There will be no GA without a project.
This initiative would embrace ways
to unite the players in the insurance
expert sector in Africa, and to
strengthen collaboration within CIMA
(InterAfrican Conference of Insurance
Markets) treaty and its 14 member
countries.
