JOURNAL
PRESIDENT’S COLUMN
Hello, and welcome to our third edition of The Assessors Journal.
As I write this, we are just about getting into the Christmas spirit, and know that it has been a quite summer period for
most of the accident repair sector market, with commentary that in some areas we have seen a decline in claims of up
to 55% as we see stabilisation after Covid, and the advanced introduction to the vehicle park of collision avoidance
technologies.
Should we be worried I hear you ask, well if you are not adaptable to change, then yes it might be getting harder going
forward.
Certainly we have seen more inspections being requested via our 昀椀nd an engineer portal for EV and Hybrid failures and
loss, and also mechanical inspections, and pre purchase inspections from the public.
It also goes to identify, that as we move to a more technologically based vehicle park, then our inspection and research
work will become more digital and technical, along with our core damage assessment style reporting as quali昀椀ed expert
witnesses.
Over the last year we have been very busy strengthening our proposition to market, and that has been well
demonstrated by our AQP certi昀椀cation program, which has been upgraded to accommodate newer technologies, in
keeping with the current code of practice for salvage categorisation, which will be upgraded further next year with the
next iteration of the code being reviewed by the ABI currently.
We look forward to our 昀椀rst council meeting since our AGM with some new faces, and also
some departing council members who have served their time well with us, and moved
us along the bit further during a dif昀椀cult time in our history.
Our thanks go out to Chris Robbins, Philip Roath, Chris Jones and Les Minton who left
council in September of this year, when they met their service period, but Chris Jones
will remain connected to Council via our Benevolent fund which is a separate charity.
Fresh faced to the challenge will see Victoria Whittle (previous IAEA Director and national
council member), Daniel Holloway, and Rick Stone, all bringing a clean approach to a new
era for the IAEA.
We look forward to working with you and welcome on board.
Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and to wish you and
your families a Merry Christmas and Happy new year.
