FIVE-MINUTE ESTIMATES
FROM AI-POWERED
INSPEKTLABS
In today’s accident repair industry, speed matters, but accuracy matters more. Vehicle
Damage Assessors (VDAs) are under constant pressure to produce estimates quickly,
avoid missed damage, reduce supplements and keep key-to-key times under control.
With Inspektlabs’ AI-powered inspection tool able to generate a fully costed estimate
in as little as 昀椀ve minutes, bodyshops are starting to ask a new question: not whether
the technology works, but what it’s costing them to do things the old way?
ehicle damage
inspection remains
one of the most critical
and time-consuming
stages of the collision
repair process. Every minute spent
estimating is a minute that delays
parts ordering, extends cycle time
and limits throughput. That’s why
Inspektlabs attracted signi昀椀cant
attention to its exhibition stand at last
November’s ABP Club annual Industry
Convention. Its AI-driven inspection
solution can scan and detect vehicle
damage, support the VDA’s technical
decision-making, and generate a safe,
consistent repair estimate in minutes.

Inspektlabs was established in the UK
by Devesh Trivedi and the business
idea emerged almost by accident.
“Devesh was travelling across
Europe and when returning a rental
car, he was charged for damage he
hadn’t caused, but had no way of
proving it,” explained Neeraj Kumar
Pal, Growth Marketing Manager at
Inspektlabs. “That’s when he saw a gap
in the market, left his full-time job at
28
McKinsey, and started the company.
The prototype was ready by April 2018
and went live in July that same year.”
Today, Inspektlabs operates in around
23 countries, with customers including
insurers, 昀氀eets, leasing companies and
bodyshops. The software is designed
to accelerate accident-damaged
vehicle repairs by providing fast,
structured, high-quality inspection data
that supports the estimating process.
To date, Inspektlabs has delivered
more than 10 million AI-assisted
inspections worldwide. Alongside
speed and consistency, the platform
has also been developed to reduce
fraud. By analysing images and video,
the system can identify older, unrelated
damage or detect potential photo
manipulation – helping to protect
repairers and insurers from in昀氀ated
claims and insurance scams.
“Our AI-powered inspection tool
was built with fraud prevention at
its core,” said Devesh. “It’s also
well-equipped to address the evolving
challenge of AI-generated fake images.
With Inspektlabs, users must capture
photos or videos in real time during
the inspection – previously saved
or AI-generated content cannot be
uploaded. So even if someone creates
fake damage images using AI, our
system makes it impossible to submit
them.”
