FIEA REPORT
FIEA BOARD MEETING
15 JUNE 2026
Alan Watling, the IAEA’s FIEA Representative, reports from the latest FIEA Board Meeting,
with an update about the 2026 General Assembly and Technical Day.
Alan writes:
This meeting was held online starting
at 8am UK time with 14 attendees.
FIEA President, Jacques Trassoudaine,
opened the meeting with a welcome
to all those present and con昀椀rmed
that the rewrite of the FIEA Statutes
and Code of Ethics was well underway
with the initiative headed by FIEA
Special Advisor, Philippe Collard of
Belgium. Final drafts are expected to
be available before the end of 2026.
I provided the FIEA with a copy of the
IAEA’s corresponding documents as a
possible aide memoire.
AICIS, of Italy, has decided that it is
no longer appropriate for them to
continue with their membership of the
FIEA and is withdrawing. Federperiti
of Italy also had concerns and have
taken the same steps. The concerns
raised by AICIS and Federperiti may
be addressed following the revision of
the FIEA statutes, due to be introduced
later this year.

The organisation for this year’s
General Assembly and Technical Day
in the UK is progressing well and I,
personally, would like to thank Phil
Briggs and other members of the
team for supporting this major event.
Unfortunately, due to my personal
circumstances beyond my control, I
have not been able to devote support
for this important event.
The General Assembly will take place
on Thursday 17 September and is open
to all FIEA Members (that includes all
IAEA Associates and above grades).
18 September will be the Technical
Day, followed by a Gala Dinner in the
evening, which is open to all. See
the FIEA and IAEA websites – and
page 20 of this magazine – for further
information.
FIEA SPONSORSHIP
The FIEA is inviting sponsorship from
potentially interested parties. Each
year, delegates will be tasked with
nominating prospective parties for
consideration by the FIEA Executive.
If members could advise me of any
prospective FIEA sponsors, could
they please let me know, so that I can
forward the contact details on to the
FIEA?
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTS
There was not enough time for
a round-the-table update on our
profession in the member countries.
However, I had already prepared a
document which was circulated to
delegates following the meeting:
At our last meeting, I mentioned the
aspect of AI being used for fraudulent
motor claims. Scammers/fraudsters
are using AI to create fraudulent
documents and images for bogus
