Thanks to an opportunity to acquire
a batch of 300 昀氀ood-damaged cars
from a dealership around 18 months
ago, ASM is probably now the largest
stockist of reclaimed Jaguar Land
Rover parts in the country. Indeed,
it has proved to be a very timely
purchase given the supply and
back-order issues post-Covid, and,
of course, more recently the lengthy
shutdown of JLR factories following a
major cyber attack.
ASM has a modern 15-bay workshop,
which is fully equipped to facilitate
the safe and ef昀椀cient depollution,
dismantling and testing of all parts. The
provenance of all vehicles is checked
and all stock items that are removed
are fully cleaned, barcoded and
catalogued. The process for buying
reclaimed parts from ASM has been
made as client friendly as possible.
Body repair shops can order parts by
phone, email, Teams chat, or via an
Audatex portal log-in. “Alongside
Charles Trent, we were instrumental
in putting together a working green
parts portal for a large insurer,” said
Chris Whytock, Parts Manager at ASM.
“Parts ordering can now be completely
automated. If it is on the estimate and
we have the part in stock, we will just
deliver the part directly to the client at
the press of a button. Some clients still
prefer a manual or hybrid approach to
ordering, however, and we’re happy
to work with whatever system is the
customer’s preference.”
Body昀椀xers Automotive Repair in
Worminghall, Buckinghamshire, is
a long-term customer of ASM and
says that green parts play a big role
to achieving its sustainability goals
as it reduces the need for new parts
manufacturing and waste. “The
VRA-certi昀椀ed parts standard is very
important because it helps us make
a decision whether a part is right for
us in terms of quality and how it's

been dismantled,” said Karl Parsons,
Director, Body昀椀xers Automotive Repair.
“We buy green parts for our retail
customers and we also use them if
new parts haven't been available from
a manufacturer for a number of
weeks/months but ASM have got the
parts. After a conversation with the
work provider and customer, we've
then agreed that green parts is the
best solution.
“Our experience in buying parts from
ASM is always a 10/10 as we know
that the quality of service and parts
we receive won’t let us down,” added
Karl. “We always recommend ASM to
anyone who asks about green parts.”
Whereas some repairers want a part
completely stripped, others do not, so
ASM always endeavour to establish the
required preference prior to supplying
the part. “We can do either or,” says
Chris Whytock. “I come from a
20-year bodyshop background, so I
fully understand and appreciate why
issues such as complete unit versus
stripped, grading accuracy and delivery
lead times are so important to repairers
in meeting their required key-to-key
times.”
Sustainability goals and greater

increasing adoption of reclaimed
parts usage is playing a pivotal role
in achieving signi昀椀cant reductions in
CO2 emissions in the repair cycle. In
2024, ASM diverted over 100,000
parts from disposal, which saved the
equivalent of approximately 20,000
tonnes of carbon emissions. With the
ability to produce tailored emissions
reports to the green parts market,
ASM’s holistic ESG (Environmental,
Social and Governance) programme
aims to support a cleaner and healthier
environment for all, whilst ensuring
transparency and accountability.
Looking ahead, ASM’s commitment to
circularity and collaboration places the
business, and the wider industry, on a
strong, sustainable trajectory. As more
repairers embrace reclaimed parts
and carbon-reduction targets tighten,
pioneers like ASM will continue to
shape a greener, smarter and more
resilient parts market. A future in
which every vehicle part has a second
life is not just better for the planet, it
delivers real commercial advantages
for repairers and insurers. In this truly
circular ecosystem, the environment
wins, bodyshops win, and the green
parts suppliers who are raising
standards and driving innovation win
as well – proving that sustainability and
success can go hand in hand.
