The FIEA’s report for The Assessors Journal, from the Board Meeting, held on 24 January
2025 in Barcelona. Written by Alan Watling, the FIEA Representative for the IAEA.
Alan writes:
On this occasion, it was a one-day
meeting, morning and afternoon on
the same day. Previously, it was half
and half, over two days.
Introduction
Jacques Trassoudaine, FIEA President,
welcomed the delegates from seven
of the member countries plus two
by video link. He explained that he
preferred the delegates’ attendance
at meetings to be physical, whenever
possible, but video links, of course, are
better than non-attendance.
Jacques announced that François
Mondello, Délégué Général of FIEA
and President of French Federation
of Automotive Experts (FFEA) had
just this month been awarded Knight
of the National Order of Merit by
the Minister of the Interior by decree
of the President of the Republic of
France. This award was made for his
dedication towards the profession of
the automotive expert and practice.
This award recognises his distinguished
career, enormous contribution in
terms of impetus, work promoting the
profession, ethics, and particularly to
road safety. He had previously received
a Medal for Internal Security relating to
road safety in 2017.
This announcement was met with
applause from the delegates.

François achievements included: The
creation of a partnership with the
French State allowing the FFEA to
work jointly with the BEA (Automotive
Expertise Of昀椀ce within the Ministry of
the Interior), on all issues relating to
the implementation of professional
law, management of the national
list of automotive experts and
professional discipline. Representation
of the profession within all working
committees set up by the Ministry of
the Interior, monitoring a committee
for the administrative procedure
for damaged vehicles, educational
committee for the annual training
of automotive experts in delegated
management of their road safety
missions with the National Commission
of Automotive Experts [La Commission
nationale des experts en automobile
(CNEA)].
The deployment of three large-scale
national operations to secure vehicles
presumed to be dangerous.
The creation for the profession of
a High Ethics Committee in charge
of drafting the code of ethics for
automotive experts, on which the
