CPD REMINDER
The IAEA would like to remind
readers that all Members – both
quali昀椀ed and studying towards
a quali昀椀cation – are required to
carry out and record their CPD
activity. Members are required
to carry out a minimum of 30
hours in a 12-month period, of
which 20 hours must be formal
learning.
Continuing Professional
Development is the process of
tracking and documenting the
skills, knowledge and experience
gained both in a formal
structured manner (a training
course) and informally (reading).
Typically, CPD refers to the
learning that takes place after
completion of a quali昀椀cation
or profession grade and meets
the need to remain competent
in a developing world. CPD is
essential in a changing world
to keep up with changes in
technology and changes in
the environment we are all
employed in.
In addition to this CPD
shows commitment to
professionalism and a desire
for self-development and it is
a requirement of the Institute
Rules and Code of Conduct.
THATCHAM
RESEARCH:
MAKING MODERN
CARS INSURABLE
During a recent webinar, “How
a fresh approach to gauging
risk will make modern cars
insurable”, Thatcham Research
delved into how the Vehicle Risk
Rating (VRR) [which replaces the
outgoing 1-50 Group Rating
system) 昀椀ve-pillar framework
- measuring performance,
damageability, repairability,
safety, and security, enhances
risk assessment for modern
vehicles. During the webinar
the panellists discussed how
VRR facilitated OMODA UK
and JAECOO UK’s market
entry by enabling targeted
vehicle adaptations, and how
Admiral Group’s risk assessment
processes are evolving alongside
these market changes.
